What is QFD?

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was developed to bring the client needs and wants (for a product or service) into the design processes of modern manufacturing and business. 

As the distance between producers and users grows (even within  organisation this can happen and especially for IT and IS projects), QFD links the needs of the client (end user) with:

• design, 
• development, 
• engineering, 
• manufacturing, 
• service functions

QFD helps organisations and clients to define needs and the value of these needs and to translate these into actions and designs, and focus various business functions toward achieving these common goals. 

QFD empowers organizations to exceed normal expectations and limitations and provide a level of unanticipated excitement that generates value.

QFD and The Project Factory
